MCU Enforcement Rules for English Proficiency Requirements
Approved at the Academic Affairs Committee Meeting on May 20, 2021
- In accordance with the Ming Chuan University Undergraduate Graduation Requirement
Implementation Measure, the Ming Chuan University Enforcement Rules for English Proficiency
Requirements were established. With the purposes to improve students’ employment competitiveness
in the future, so that students can pass the English Proficiency before graduation, also to enhance the
ability of students to pursue further study and seek for job employment. - Students of the undergraduate and Master’s programs who were enrolled in the university starting from
the Academic Year of 110 shall pass the English proficiency test after passing the standard of the “English
proficiency test” stipulated in these rules. - Students of the undergraduate and Master’s programs of our university should take at least one of the
following English Proficiency Exams during the schooling period. The types and standards of the exams
are as follows. (Click to check the standards) Students studying in the International College or the Applied English Department should acquire
higher test scores than the minimum requirements. Specific requirements will be established in
other regulations. - Should any undergraduate student be unable to meet any of the above requirements before entering
their fourth year, they must take and pass the Practical English for Professionals 1 and 2, 2 credits for
each semester, and will be considered as passing one of the above mentioned English proficiency
requirements. Graduate students who are unable to meet any of the above requirements before
graduation, they must take and pass the Applied English 1 and 2, 2 credits for each semester, and will be
considered as passing one of the above mentioned English proficiency requirements. - A student who meets the minimum requirements for an English Proficiency test should submit the
original certificate or score report to the English Language Center for review. After completion of
these procedures, the student will be verified as meeting the graduation requirements. - Students admitted before 2020-21 academic year follow the Ming Chuan University Enforcement
Rules for English Proficiency Requirements passed on November 24, 2016. - Enforcement rules were announced and implement upon approval by the English Language Center
Faculty Meeting, School Affairs Committee Meeting, Institute of General Education School Affairs
Committee Meeting, Academic Affairs Committee Meeting, and University President. Any revision
must follow the same procedures.
